Individual Academic Coaching
Minton Learning Services provides individualized teaching for students who experience a learning difficulty or learning difference that is interfering with their ability to do well in school. Many parents don’t understand why their student is struggling in school and may want to try targeted help with executive functioning and study skills before scheduling a comprehensive educational diagnostic assessment.
Your student may have already been diagnosed with a specific learning disability, processing speed difficulty, ADHD, dyslexia, learning problems related to a head injury, auditory processing or sensory integration disorder. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, you may be looking for one-on-one coaching that accommodates for their specific learning needs.
Academic Coaching services are available for students from upper elementary to adult learners. All teaching is individualized and does not use only one specific method or approach for all students. A combination of modalities is used that fosters successful learning for each student’s strengths and their weak areas. See more information below about Executive Functioning and Study Skills.
Executive Functioning and Study Skills
Many bright students who are struggling in school benefit from developing new executive functioning methods, learning strategies and study skills that are useful for all subjects. Individualized teaching is also offered in these critical areas, upper elementary to adults, including post-secondary students:

- Planning
- Organizational skills
- Problem-solving approaches
- Preparing for tests and test-taking skills
- Initiating tasks, especially difficult ones
- Note-taking methods
- Working memory strategies
- Active listening
- Vocabulary building techniques
College Academic Coaching
Dr. Minton has also developed a College Academic Coaching program that is flexible and individualized. This College Academic Coaching program begins during the first week of classes and runs until the final exam week for that quarter/semester. These well-developed and practiced strategies and skills will continue to serve students well, even after they have graduated and are beginning their first job, joining their family’s company, or perhaps launching their own small business. This program is open to students in every State who are enrolled in college, university, community college, or technical training programs.
