Dr. Minton has been a gift to our family. Our bright daughter was not learning how to read and was really behind in third grade.  We were told that she had dyslexia and that she would need special education.  A psychologist diagnosed ADD and encouraged us to give her a prescription drug, which we decided not to do. Through a friend we learned about Katherine’s work and began consulting with her by phone and email. She reviewed all of our daughter’s records from the school and the psychologist, and her very detailed parent questionnaire, analyzing all of the information to see the whole picture. She recommended an optometrist in our area who specializes in learning-related vision problems. The doctor found that she had a developmental vision problem that was keeping her from seeing books and other print clearly. She started wearing glasses and completed several weeks of vision therapy. She worked with a tutor whose credentials were reviewed by Katherine, and she began to catch up. Our daughter is now an honor student in middle school, hasn’t received resource room help for three years and has no symptoms of ADD.

Katherine Minton is the reason my two boys were so successful in middle and high school.  She worked with my sons from middle school to high school graduation. She carefully diagnosed each one’s different academic issues and tailored learning plans to accommodate their individual needs.  She is an incredibly intelligent and caring academic learning specialist. She not only cared about their academic success, but was concerned about their health and mental well being.  We considered Katherine a part of our family.  The skills and knowledge they learned because of Katherine have carried over to their college careers and I know will serve them well for the rest of their adult lives.  I am so thankful that Katherine worked so hard to help my children succeed in school and with life.

I began working with Katherine in seventh grade. She coached me once a week in various subjects including English, writing, and SAT/ACT prep work. I worked with Katherine until I graduated high school. Katherine was very helpful and made a tremendous impact on my school work. My work that I did with her was constantly at a high level because of the time and energy she put into each of our sessions. She constantly made sure that I was doing my best work possible and always motivated me to want to produce the best work I could possibly do. Most of all, she is a very nice person that is very patient and is someone you can trust. She always showed up ready to work for every meeting and was always professional. My parents saw the work I did with her and definitely saw the value of each session. She greatly impacted my life and helped make me into the person I am today.
